Bristol Paintworks wedding photographer

Tina and Anwar’s wedding at the beginning of March was my first visit to the Paintworks in Bristol. Not your typical wedding venue and quite challenging at times (I even found myself dusting off the old flash a couple of times) it’s definitely one I would like to go back to. A few of my favourites from the day below.

Wedding Photojournalist Association contest win

The results for the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) Q4 competition were announced last week and I’m pleased to say I had another 2 top 10 placements. The first image was taken at Amy and Paul’s wedding at Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire back in August last year. It finished 7th in the ‘Kids being kids’ category.

JUDGES COMMENTS: Solid moment. Technically this was not an easy photograph to make, but the photographer handled it well. I like how the photographer shot from behind the pastries as opposed to behind the girls to show what they are staring at. Nice frame.

The second image was taken at Laura and Dan’s wedding at Castle Hill, Devon in October. (Incidentally, I am now a recommended Wedding Photographer at Castle Hill) and finished 9th in the ‘Toasting/Speeches’ category.

JUDGES COMMENTS: An easy picture to at first overlook. What a touching expression.

Bristol Mud Dock Wedding Photographer

I think one blog post in the last six months tells its own story of just how busy I’ve been recently – and that’s not counting a 10 week old baby! It was great to kick off 2011 in February with Carla and James’ intimate wedding in Bristol. They were married at Bristol Reigstry Office and then on to the Mud Dock Cafe for the reception with a quick boat trip around the harbour in between. Although I have never photographed a wedding there before, the Mud Dock is a venue I know well and provides a great backdrop with a slightly industrial twist! A few of my personal favourites from the day below.

Wedding Photojournalist Association

I found out at the weekend that one of my photos had “placed” in the latest Wedding Photojournalist Association contest. The photo, (below) from Karen and Mike’s wedding at St Audries Park in May, came 17th in the Getting Ready category. 17th place may not sound much until you find out there were over 10,000 entries accross 7 categories, so I’m pretty chuffed!

Coombe Lodge Wedding Photographer

Jemima and Paul were married at the fantastic Coombe Lodge which is now run by the same people as Priston Mill. I was going to mention how the wedding took place on the same day England were playing the USA in the World Cup, but under the circumstances I don’t think I’ll bother… A small selection of favourites below.

Louisa & Tony’s wedding in Knuttsford

A quick trip up to Manchester, Knuttsford to be more precise, for Louisa and Tony’s wedding at Belle Epoque. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best, but it didn’t seem to matter – Belle Epoque is a very intimate (and dark!) venue with bags of atmosphere. A few favourites below.
