I had a nice surprise on Christmas Eve when I found out one of my photos had finished fourth in the ‘Emotion’ category in the WPJA’s (Wedding Photojournalist Association) latest international competition. The image (seen below the with judges comments) was taken at William and Claire’s wedding in August at Frampton Court.

JUDGES COMMENTS: There’s just enough depth of field to allow the bride’s smile to strengthen, in juxtaposition, the woman’s almost tearful reaction to her joy. It’s a quiet but telling moment, sensitively portrayed.

The latest results for the Wedding Photojournalist Association quarterly competitions were announced last week and I’m pleased to say I had an image place in the top 20 for the “Transport” category. The image, taken at Jon and Gayle’s wedding at Kelham Hall in May, can be seen below with the judges comments.

JUDGES COMMENTS: This is a wonderful moment captured. It demonstrates the right time and place. I love seeing the guests peaking through the windows at the happy couple.
